Public Schools: A better formula
For the first time in decades, the 2007 Legislature made a small increase in the recognition of the need for adequate staffing in such areas as para-educators (reading specialists, teachers aides and the like), health staff, custodians and secretaries. Lawmakers approved a formula of one staffer for every 59 students, one less child than before.
