Annual Leadership Academy

Are you a fairly new chapter leader? Are you thinking that maybe you'd like to become a chapter leader, but wish there was some way to get some skills and tools under you belt before jumping in?

Maybe you've been a leader for some time but have not taken advantage of this member training. If so, this training will assist you in operating your local PSE chapter more effectively, and will serve as the basis for your greater understanding of the skills and knowledge needed to be a successful local union leader.

You will learn about:
Running effective chapter meetings;
Roles and responsibilities of union leaders;
Knowing your contract, along with other insightful discussions.

PSE pays for the costs associated with your lodging*, most of your meals, and the costs associated with your “release time” from work if you are scheduled to work on the day training begins. We do not reimburse mileage for traveling to the training event.

Each zone director is given five slots to fill for the Basic Course. Union members who complete this course are invited back the following year to continue their studies until they complete the Master level. However, because there are only thirty slots acceptance is based on availability; after that registrants are waitlisted.

If you have never attended leadership, we encourage you to contact your zone director for an application.

* In an effort to increase the number of participants and keep cost down we encourage attendees to share a hotel room.
