Time to brush up on school zone laws

With school starting again soon, here are some frequently asked questions on school traffic safety laws and enforcement. What’s new for this year?

The 2010 Legislature imposed double fines “for drivers who fail to stop for a pedestrian or bicyclist within a crosswalk that is marked with school or playground speed zone signs.” Double fines already are in effect for speeding in school zones and illegally passing a school bus.

Mr. Fisk is a paraeducator and bus driver at Naches Valley Middle School. Coworkers, administrators, teachers and students have recognized Earl’s unwavering dedication to the students, both in the classroom and in his role as a bus driver and recess supervisor.
